Ibiza is your home away from home!

Where is Ibiza?

If you have never been to Ibiza, or never been to Spain, you may have heard of this little Mediterranean gem but probably have no idea where it is located.  About 79 km off the coast of Valencia is where this tiny autonomous community sits, the 3rd largest of the Balearic Islands.

Ibiza Town is the biggest city on the island and, along with the myriad of other smaller towns that dot the coast of the island, it has given Ibiza a reputation as being one of the loveliest, friendliest and most fun places to visit in the entire Mediterranean.

More facts about Ibiza

Now if you’d like to simply know ‘data’ about Ibiza that’s all good and well and you should keep looking if you’re only interested in dry facts and figures.  What we’ve done here for you is put together a little blog about some of the things that make Ibiza so special and, if you’re keen on knowing those, sit back and relax while we tell you all about them.

For example, if you’re looking for a mystery similar to the famous Bermuda Triangle then you’ll want to go and visit Es Vedra, a little islet right next to Ibiza.  It has a magnetic field that will render any compass basically useless but luckily there have never been any planes or ships lost there. Locals will tell you however that the reason it’s so special is because of the Sirens located there. (You know, the ones that Homer faced in his grand adventure.)

Ibiza, surprisingly, has no running rivers and in fact all of the fresh water on the island is underground meaning that there are only wells and rainwater to supply the island.  Still, they seem to make do just fine and if you run out of water there’s plenty of beer and wine to drink at all of the friendly local restaurants that dot the island.

Like many Ibiza island is actually the top of a mountain range that, millions of years ago, was as large as the Rockies.  About 5 million years ago this changed when the Mediterranean basin flooded, forming the Mediterranean Sea.

Ibiza has almost nothing in the way of wildlife or plants that are harmful in any way towards humans. No insects, reptiles or animals and no flora or fauna either.  It’s one of the safest places for children to play as well as adults because of this.

There are certainly many other things that make Ibiza so special so, if you ever get the chance, we urge you to go there and have a grand adventure of your own.
